Chartered status is present in most industries and is recognised internationally. Achieving Chartered Marketer status recognises your experience, knowledge and commitment to your career and the marketing profession. By joining this community, you demonstrate your commitment to keeping up-to-date and maintaining the highest standards of marketing knowledge and expertise. Any marketer can achieve Chartered Marketer status, as long as you meet the criteria.
To qualify for Chartered Marketer Status, you must:
- First hold Associate (ACIM), Member (MCIM) or Fellow (FCIM) graded membership of CIM
- Then complete two consecutive years of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Finally, pass the Chartered Marketer Assessment, which will be available on completion of your second consecutive year of CPD.
Once this criteria is met, we can award you Chartered Marketer status - the most prestigious accolade in marketing.
So now you know that Continuing Professional Development (CPD) can lead to achieving Chartered Marketer status – the mark of an up-to-date, experienced and qualified marketing professional. But what is CPD and why should you get involved?
Across all industries, professionals are expected to keep their skills up-to-date and continue to enhance their knowledge. By recording CPD you demonstrate a level of commitment and capability to current and future employers. CPD is important at every stage of your career, so we actively encourage all our members to record their CPD.
Our CPD programme is focused on improving your capabilities to ensure that you remain current and effective as a marketing professional. We benchmark your skills against our Professional Marketing Competencies framework to help you identify skills gaps in your knowledge. And, at the end of your CPD year when you’ve submitted your activities, you’ll receive a certificate to show your commitment to your ongoing development.
In an ever-expanding online marketplace, CIM understands that communicating your credentials can be a challenge. That is why we have partnered with Credly’s platform to provide our members with a digital badge to prove their membership status with CIM, while the metadata that sits behind it gives the viewer an understanding of the criteria required to achieve it.
Members can use their digital badges in email signatures, digital CVs, across social media and on personal websites. The digital image contains verified metadata that displays the current CIM member grade.
Taking that next step in your career or asking for guidance on a project can be daunting when you need extra support. We offer a mentoring programme to our professional members where we match developing marketers to experienced and knowledgeable professionals. How your mentoring relationship works is your decision, as it’s tailored to fit in around you and your busy schedule.
The programme allows mentees to search and contact an inspiring mentor who can provide, knowledge and support on areas such as strategic direction and career advice. It provides you an opportunity to expand your network with an experienced senior member of CIM. Having a mentor can help, build confidence to successfully take your career to the next level.
As a mentor, you’ll support aspiring professional marketers by utilising your industry knowledge and experience. It’s your decision how mentoring fits in around your schedule and which mentee proposal you would like to support. You’ll receive recognition as an expert in your field by showcasing your individual skills and experience. You could improve your leadership skills by sharing your knowledge with marketers of the future.
Marketers will receive 90 days access to an online CIM course of their choice from the day they join as a graded member. There are three courses to choose from:
- Marketing and Brand Strategy: aimed at marketers looking to develop their strategic marketing planning skills and becoming more equipped to responding to changing business challenges
- Marketing Fundamentals: helping to develop skills and knowledge needed to plan and measure an effective marketing communications campaign and to develop other core fundamental marketing principles
- Planning and Optimising Marketing Campaigns: providing insight on effective campaign planning and execution as well as understanding and evaluating performance
- Copywriting – The Complete Guide: discover how to combine creative flair with critical insight to deliver copy that works, gain the tools, techniques and practical advice to enhance your skills and your credibility as a copywriter
The Marketing Fundamentals online course is worth £249 whilst the Marketing and Brand Strategy, Planning and Optimising Marketing Campaigns and Copywriting – The Complete Guide online courses are worth £399.
