PRESS RELEASE
CIM ANNOUNCES NEW APPOINTMENTS TO FURTHER STRENGTHEN MARKETING IN SCOTLAND
The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Scotland have made two new appointments to the board to further support the Scottish marketing community, completing the eight strong expert line - up. The board consists of experienced marketers from across key sectors to the local economy including: education, events, sport, digital marketing, tourism & leisure, engineering, B2B and technology.
With Scottish businesses set to receive an additional £2 million to help prepare for Brexit and to strengthen exporting strategies, the board will support local marketers as well as raising awareness of marketing as a business-critical function in opening new markets.
The breadth of support that CIM Scotland can now offer members across a wide range of sectors, combined with links to respected industry partners such as CeeD (Centre for Engineering Education & Development) will provide members with access to best practice guidance and valuable insight to drive business growth.
Stephanie Irvine, director of sales at DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh City Centre has been appointed as events ambassador and plans to refresh CIM Scotland’s events programme to further meet the needs of its members.
Stephanie said: “CIM Scotland has already delivered events in partnership with key sector brands, such as international spirits company, Edrington and CeeD. These events explore areas such as B2B marketing, hosted by technology and engineering businesses, as well as understanding the needs and demands from these organisations for marketing skills of the future marketer.
“In my role as events ambassador, I plan to further strengthen our relationship with these key brands in order to help the professional development of marketing in Scotland. We are also planning to work with tourism and leisure brands to deliver marketing events within these sectors, so it’s exciting times ahead for the next twelve months.”
Meanwhile, Veronica Lynch, vice principal of external engagement at Perth College UHI, joins the board as education ambassador, bringing a wealth of experience in the further and higher education sectors to support the current CIM Scotland vice chair of education, Ailie Ferrari.
Veronica said: “I am really pleased to join an experienced board team in Scotland and looking forward to adding additional expertise and developing the opportunities across Scotland for members engagement and developing the importance of marketing in all aspects of business as well as education sectors.”
Glasgow-based Ailie Ferrari, director and founder of PR agency, Really Engaged, plans to re-engage the education sector in Scotland, by facilitating Scottish education provider involvement with local CIM Scotland regional marketing activities.
Ailie said: “I believe, along with my fellow board members, and in particular with Veronica joining the board, that the pipeline from education and qualification needs to connect to the experienced marketing professionals in Scotland.
“We are keen to have the Scottish community from a wide range of sectors that will not just showcase and inspire younger marketers but also highlight career opportunities by working closely with CIM’s graduate gateway universities here in Scotland.”
Joe Pacitti, chair of CIM Scotland, added: “I’m really looking forward to working with the newly refreshed CIM Scotland board. The new appointments bring a range of highly-relevant marketing expertise and new skills, allowing us to work together and further strengthen professional marketing for our members. This will help us to create an even better CIM experience for the wider marketing community of Scotland.”
